New York Secretary of State Cesar A. Perales announced last week the availability of $40 million in competitive grants to reward local governments who have implemented significant performance and efficiency improvements. Efficiency measures must be fully in place and must have commenced on or after January 1, 2010. Successful applicants will need to quantify the savings and demonstrate that they are reoccurring.
Eligible applicants are counties (outside the City of New York), towns, villages and cities. Individual awards can be up to $5 million and not exceed $25 per resident based on a municipality’s population. More information, including an application form, can be found on the Department of State’s website linked here.
The deadline for applications is 4:00 p.m. on July 25, 2012.
